#T10 Hand-Forged French Trade-Axe
Hand-forged French trade-axe. This is a brand new, original, historically influenced trade-axe that I forged in my blacksmith shop, The North River Forge. I specialize in hand-forged reproductions of the 18th and 19th centuries. They have an authenticity rarely found in other maker's work. Each piece is unique. Dimensions: Head overall 5 1/2" - Cutting edge 2 3/4" wide. Steel: 1018 head with a piece of 1095 fire welded for the cutting edge. Traditional 18th century blacksmithing methods. Haft: Ash, 17" long. Teardrop shape. Finish: Aged finish. Period correct. Special Features: Filework on front of blade. Leather wrap. Leather blade guard/sheath. This trade-axe is stamped with my makers mark NR and come with a leather sheath/blade guard. Great for re-enactors or collectors who crave tradition. Hand crafted in the traditions of long ago. It is a reminder of an era past. A very nice reproduction French trade-axe that will take and keep a good edge. It has never been carried or used. Functional as well as beautiful.
