Custom hand-forged Voyageur Belt Knife.

Blade Steel: 1095 high carbon steel, tempered to a Rockwell 59-60.

Construction: Full tang

Dimensions: Blade 4 5/8" - Handle 4 3/8" - Overall 9" - Width 1 3/8" - Thickness 1/8"

Scales: Hard Maple, secured with three brass pins and washers.

Sheath: Deer hide wrap over 7-8 oz. veg tan leather with a welt.

Finish: Period.

Special Features: Hammer and forge marks. File worked spine.

The Voyageur knife takes its name from the heroic explorers of the 18th and 19th centuries who traded with the indigenous people of North America. The Voyageurs were known for their long expeditions, exploring lakes and rivers by canoe, often portaging over long distances.

This knife is stamped with my maker's mark “NR” and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Great for re-enactors or collectors who crave tradition. Hand-made in the traditions of long ago. A nice vintage style knife. Very sharp and functional.
